Oceans Galore!

We've been studying oceans in first grade for our "DIG-IT" time. I've had alot of fun doing some cool technology projects with the kids. What's nice about DIG-IT time, is that I get to see all of the first graders... not just my own awesome group of kiddos. This gives the other kids a chance to use some of my tech gadgets and create tech. projects too.
The first graders are split into three groups. My first group did an awesome job reading and researching their favorite ocean creature. They practiced reading their facts, and we did "Ocean Videos". Of course, we used DISCOVERY STREAMING for our green screen backgrounds and images! They had a blast and loved seeing themselves on my big screen!
My second group of kids read about their favorite ocean creature also, but this group wrote about their creature from 1st person point of view. They practiced reading their writing, and illustrated a picture so that we could make "Ocean Blabbers".
The third group of kids read the story Commotion in the Ocean, and picked their favorite animal. Then, they practiced reading their page with expression and for fluency. The students made a "Commotion in the Ocean Podcast" and had the opportunity to use our classroom iPod to create it.
Check out our OCEAN projects by clicking on the links... Hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed creating them!
